Not long after the death of my Scottish father, I wrote four stories about childhood holidays in Scotland. Kames was the first. It begins with a child walking to a pebbly beach, a memory that I mulled over for a while. Once I completed Kames the other stories came quickly. These were my first attempts at creative non-fiction, helping me discover my creative "voice”. I wrote them without knowing I would soon move here.
